Data Futures operates a mix of leased IT equipment and institutional machinery, with a permanent software engineering staff, on behalf of its partners. Its research infrastructure is based on freizo —a MongoDB application which it originated in 2009 and continues to employ and develop. freizo generates a range of database and repository formats and creates annotate-able IIIF services. Data Futures maintains large numbers of Invenio repositories and IIIF services, both for specific partners and for the wider research community. Approximately 130 projects currently use this infrastructure and a selection of case studies is presented on this website.

anəstore

anəstore  is a subscription service supporting annotation of digitized material such as books, documents and images which is operated by Data Futures. Where IIIF services exist, anəstore can employ them directly; otherwise it automatically generates temporary annotate-able IIIF service. It produces a range of JSON annotation collection outputs for different research environments, as well as Web Annotation Data Model and can transfer IIIF services to clients' infrastructure for independent long-term support. anəstore uses DOIs and ORCID for preservation and can create Zenodo annotation data type and annotation research activity records—crediting contributors' ORCID records and promoting traceability and analysis preservation. Zenodo is the Invenio-based global catch-all repository for research data operated on behalf of the European Commission by CERN. Data Futures is a co-developer and member of the InvenioRDM consortium. Current annual subscribers to anəstore include Europa Institute Basel, ENS-Lyon, University of Notre Dame and Princeton University.
