annostor

annostor is a new research data management tool, launching in Summer 2026. Providing scholars, research projects and institutions with solutions for managing PIDs, visual resources and repositories, annostor enhances discovery by the Open Science community. Simple upload and hosting, as well as use of existing institutional data services, allows you to take control of the data life-cycle. Streamline research processes and publish your results internationally, but also retain control and preserve your material for the long term—independent of institutions and short-term funding limitations.

The International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) has enabled development of powerful research tools, including applications based on W3C's Web Annotation Data Model (WADM). However, widespread benefit from these advances has been limited by administrative delays and costs for institutions to provide IIIF support for research materials. annostor overcomes these difficulties—enabling individual scholars to create and edit new IIIF manifests, as well as providing secure workspaces for annotation of both newly digitised materials and existing IIIF resources. When complete, annostor allows minting of PIDs, deposit in trusted repositories and creation of long-term hosting solutions for project research data.
