freizo is a software platform supported by Data Futures GmbH which supports corpus transformation and secure community management for digital methods projects. It provides accession and metadata maintenance tools as well as contributor workflow development, and comprehensive serialization from its internal JSON data representation to a wide range of standards-based and proprietary technologies.
It can be used for creating or re-delivering projects in a wide spectrum of domains from life-sciences to the humanities, for generating versions of corpora in multiple standards-compliant formats and for administering extended communities of collaborating scientists and contractors. freizo uses MongoDB. It is effective for small exploratory projects but also allows flexible growth—exploiting parallelism efficiently to address growing performance, capacity and fail-over needs of very large infrastructures—while minimizing costs of operation. It has been in use for almost a decade both at multiple European and US institutions and commercial partners.
